With car theft rising, protection of your vehicle, and possessions within, is essential. Fitting an alarm and immobiliser to your vehicle is the best way to preventing theft.
Many insurance companies insist an alarm/immobiliser is fitted to your vehicle, and it is important to find out if this is the case. New insurance regulations soon to come into force will ask for a Thatcham Category 5 Tracking system to be fitted on high value/high risk vehicles. This system requires a VSIB accredited installer. VSIB accreditation insures that the system is fitted to the high standard as laid down by Thatcham to ensure reliability and quality of installation.
There are many products on the market that have different specifications, and you can choose from a basic alarm, to a fully remote central locking alarm with immobiliser, Secure Sounds and Vision can help you decide the right security for your vehicle.
Remember when leaving your vehicle unattended:
- Remove valuables from vehicle if possible, or lock securely in boot, out of sight, including briefcases, bags/purses, laptops, mobile phones, etc., or anything that may look tempting to a potential thief.
- Fully lock your vehicle, even if you are only away from it for a short period of time.
- Ensure all windows are completely closed - fast and easy with electric window closures.
- Have an alarm fitted with flashing LED to indicate your vehicle is fully alarmed.

Remember when driving:
Lock your doors when driving, Autolock can automatically lock your doors when ignition is switched on, when vehicle has central locking. This is a standard feature on many alarms, or can be fitted independently.
Secure Sounds and Vision can also offer further security for vans. Rear window grilles and metal bulkheads provide a physical deterrent to theft from vans, and slam locks ensure your van is secure by automatically locking the door each time it is closed.
Spal Anti-Car Jack
The Spal Anti Car-jack is an electronic security system, which ensures the vehicle can only be used by the legitimate owner of the Personal Identification Card.
Spal Anti Car-jack protects and can be fitted to cars, vans, motor homes, trucks etc. both for family or company vehicles.
- The system is based on an electronic dialogue between the unit installed inside the vehicle and the Personal ID Card, which the driver always has to keep with him/her.
- Only when the dialogue is correct will the system allow the vehicle to work.
- If there is a communication breakdown or interruption, the unit triggers the siren, the front and rear indication lights start to flash and the engine can also be immobilised (in accordance with Road Traffic Regulations).
- The doors are automatically locked when the speed of the vehicle reaches, for instance: 10 Km/h after 10 seconds from ignition. The system is disengaged when the ignition is switched off.
- If the anti car jack unit fails to receive the correct code (meaning the driver does not have his/her Personal ID Card) the Pre-Alarm trips a few seconds after the engine has been started.
- If the vehicle is used by several people, the central unit can accept several Personal ID Cards, or else different vehicles can be used with just one Personal ID Card.
