Page 3: AV for Motorhomes CD/Minidisc Receivers For best sound quality, CD is at the top of the list, whilst Minidisc is not quite as good, due to the compression involved, but like CD it can hold up to 74 minutes of music. Depending on make and model, features can include: flip down or removable fronts, MP3 compatibility, CD changer controls, infra-red remote controls, built-in DAB tuners and amps, pre-outs and RDS tuners. An array of displays including song title and artists name are amongst a few. Cassette/Receivers Units with Dolby B and full logic decks will offer the most for this type of format, but still don't compare to CD and Minidisc. Cassette doesn’t produce the best sound quality as it tends to suffer from background hiss, and the quality deteriorates the more the cassette is played. Units can offer RDS and DAB and CD changer capability. Amplifiers Amps will provide more power to the speakers and subs, giving a better sound. Amps come with one channel-mono-, with up to five or six channels. The better models will have built-in crossovers, fan cooling, and noise/short protection. Full range speakers/Component speakers/subwoofers Full range speakers can often fit straight into the factory locations of your car. When choosing a speaker, go for the largest mid-bass or mid-range, as this will improve the power handling at low frequencies. Component speakers have more parts involved than straight swap replacement speakers, and are basically a ‘set’ of parts:		DAB aerials Dedicated aerials are required for DAB, with the option of a body mount or a glass mount. Although the glass mounts would seem to be the best option, with no drilling required, they need to be used in a strong signal area. Attention must also be given to the metallic content in the car glass, which will reduce or stop the signal. Metal is often not detectable. The body mount aerial is always the best option and the choices are between the Bosch or the Pioneer aerials. It is possible to combine FM/MW-DAB with Bosch, but the Pioneer is shorter in length and height.
	a mid-bass driver a tweeter-approximately 1inch a crossover. The signal comes over the crossover, which divides it between the mid-bass and the tweeter. One gets the low and mid-bass frequencies, while the other only gets the higher notes. A subwoofer really gets the bass going on your system. Adding a sub will also mean that the front speakers no longer have to handle low frequencies, so they will sound cleaner.
